The NLS™ features a way to capture license cheats, called the overdraft facility. The NLS Overdraft facility is a great way to expose and capture license abuse while offering users “softer” policing. Softer policing is important, especially with business customers, as it avoids many of the issues associated with license management and it shows a level of trust to your customers.

The Overdraft facility allows users to ‘over-install’ your product beyond your declared EULA license terms. However, when they activate more than the allotted number of times you can choose to inform them and your own staff via email that the license terms have been ‘overdrawn’.

On 'overdraft' is simply defined as any activation attempt over the EULA setting for a specific Product within NLS™. Overdrafts can only work if the activation limit set for a specific license code is higher than the EULA limit set. It’s very simple to setup and is automatic one configured.

The Overdraft facility presents an automated way to ‘catch’ users who will either deliberately or accidentally abuse your license terms – providing you with a sales opportunity!

After the license limit is exceeded, the offending license code and associated registered user details are flagged in the system under the ‘overdrafts’ section.

You can use the overdrafts facility to email your registered users in the system, see below, or to simply allow you to see any codes that have been over used.
