Protect-n-Forget (PnF)™ technology
What happens when users modify or upgrade their desktops?
Dongles, wrappers, and conventional SDKs force them to call your support line to get a re-license.
That frustrates your customers and makes supporting them both labor-intensive and costly.
But with Protect-n-Forget (PnF)™ technology, your software copy protection survives PC upgrades, Windows updates, reformats, and registry changes.
As a result, you can dramatically improve customer satisfaction, save thousands of dollars in labor, and reduce your copy protection support costs.
Too many copy protection and volume licensing systems have failed to find the right balance between ease of use and security.
Step too far in one direction, and the software becomes so aggressive that it invalidates licenses in reaction to superficial changes to the PC, meaning that software will fail to work after the user updates Windows or reformats the hard disk. Emphasize ease of use at the expense of security, and the software becomes so pliable that users can easily crack it.
Protect-n-Forget (PnF)™ technology uses a patent pending technology that finds the right balance, protecting both your intellectual property and the end-user experience.
Nalpeiron's patent pending Protect-n-Forget (PnF)™ technology solves the problems that other copy protection technologies fail to address. By enabling you to protect your software even in the event of hard disk reformats, Windows re-installs and system board replacements, the technology provides a robust protection mechanism that won't inconvenience your end-users. And with easy registration using either application-based activation over the Internet or via a web page, it is easy to deploy.
A new way to identify an installation without the end user hassle
Unlike the majority of other solutions on the market Nalpeiron's PnF™ technology doesn't store easily alterable files on the user's computer or alter the registry. The Nalpeiron Licensing Service™ client side technology records the License Key in a secure license area outside the access of the User.
In other solutions, these "files" are made up of the component data of a PC like the motherboard and LAN card. Often called a 'fingerprint'. Many licensing problems arise in the normal 'life' of a PC as many end users like to update Windows, have 'crashes', like to use defragmentation utilities and upgrade their PC hardware - these normal changes cause first generation copy protection to fail as the finger print files get damaged, corrupted or hacked - or the files simply get removed during a reformat or routine maintenance.
This lack of "reliability" prevents legitimate End Users and System Admin's using copy protected software when they upgrade, update and modify their PCs. The result of these failures are real hassles for the Users of your Software - it forces them to re-license, often having to call up your support desk to get their new licenses - bad news for you and them.
Protect-n-Forget (PnF)™ prevents many industry problems:
Unscrupulous end-users.
One common trick used by less scrupulous software users to get around other vendors' software activation mechanisms is to call and claim that they lost their license due to a system failure or hard drive reformat. Because these vendors' copy protection systems are not designed to cope with these events, they are forced to award a license to these users, costing them significant amounts of revenue.
Software thieves.
People will sometimes call a company to claim a refund for software that they have not removed from their system, or will copy the software using a disk imaging system such as Norton Ghost. Protect-n-Forget (PnF)™ technology prevents piracy via disk-imaging and also has a unique tool to check End User's machines to ensure that Software licenses have been removed.
Unnecessary license invalidations caused by inadequate protection mechanisms.
Other software protection mechanisms can invalidate licenses due to superficial hardware or software changes - Windows is a prime example of the failures of most types of copy protection technology deployed today. This forces customers to re-license their software. This damages your company's reputation and drives up your support costs.
Extra implementation costs
Some other protection mechanisms are difficult to integrate into your software and hard to deploy online. Server-based solutions that require you to implement preset scripts often create problems for ISP's who have their own policies on what they will allow to run. If these solutions do not cater for cross-firewall access, your support costs will once again increase.
Ultra reliable - Not affected by:
- Hard drive crashes*
- Windows crashes or re-loads
- Hard drive re-formats**
- Hardware changes i.e. LAN card, motherboard etc
- New operating systems or restoring the operating system
- Windows upgrades i.e. XP Service Pack 2/ Vista
- Norton ghost
- Any types of drivers
- Other driver or software problems
- Utilities or defragmentation
- User changes to Windows files or registry
- Time changes, re-booting as admin or in safe mode
- Re-installing the software
- Backdating the computer or copying files to another computer
- Utilities or network file server changes
This means that your end user client will be a very happy user, your support department will no longer be flooded with re-licensing calls and there will be no reason for users to try to get FREE licenses unfairly.
