Once your customer receives their Software you enable the features they have bought and the license they are using (subscription, usage, feature etc) through the server side and ask them to activate - this switches on their own unique 'entitlement'.

The Nalpeiron Licensing Service™ enables you to sell any customer any product with any range of features and functions you choose when they activate their Software. THEN - if they choose to change their entitlements to a license with more or less features or functions you can then have them re-activate to the new entitlement and cost structure with no re-install. You can even change the license model from perpetual to lease or usage based, again no re-install, all on the fly, instantaneously.

Advantages of Total License Agility™

  • Feature clipping - Choose from any of 100 named features in your product and even attach a multi-level license process that allows you to upgrade or downgrade functionality through both Trials and Software Activation. This means you can ship a single binary and enable or disable features and rights any way you want, at any time, without the need for end user re-installation, including trials. An example of this at work is a trial of a full product suite that reverts to a lite version at the end of the trial. This can then be used for a period and instantly upgraded back to the suite with a one-click activation process.
  • Individual customer targeting - Instead of the old and simple model of making one product with one set of features and shipping many binaries to suit different products in a range you can now simply ship one binary. Each license key has rights attached to it so when the customer activates their software these rights change the vanilla shipping binary to make active the exact set of features or business model that specific customer has ordered. This can be controlled manually through the hosted web service or via web services. Imagine being able to ship a single binary to every customer and have them 'activate' only the features or entitlement they need. Every customer can have their own tailored license and rights all automated through web services.
  • Total trial flexibility - Instead of simply having a 30 day trial on a cut down or full version of your product, how about having a trial on a set of functionality such as the ability to print or run certain processes. What about offering all the features for a period and then having them degrade until you get paid. How about having a sub-set of features on trial while others are are already fully functional to encourage an upgrade. You can make trials from '1 minute' to 'months long' and attach the trial time or usage constraints to a particular set of features, rather than the whole program. This enables you to tease the end user into buying more or upgrading to a more functional product - all generating more sales and better margins.
  • Sell the way the customer wants to buy - Now it's actually very easy to achieve something very complex.
