How TrialMaximizer works
The NLS enables an ISV to automatically capture user details via an auto-generated registration page upon starting a trial providing the ISV with the opportunity to follow up. Registration can simply collect a name and email address, but may also include more comprehensive data collection, whatever the ISV requires. Of course, the ISV can select an anonymous trial process too but NLS still captures user data “under the covers” so that html "adverts" can be displayed to the user on the client side at the correct time too. In addition, the ISV can build marketing campaigns around the captured data. These campaigns are based on a range of automated email marketing templates and triggers from user activity. The ISV selects the user activity and ties in an email to send at the “trigger point”. For example, a welcome email is sent when the system trigger is a “trial start time”. Then, using the start time as a basis, emails can be sent at say 3, 7, 21 days from the start point or whatever makes sense for the ISV. Plus, the advert system can automatically show html adverts upon each 'application start up' with just a simple 'tick of a box'. This ensures your campaigns will be seen by all trial users not just registered trial users (those with captured email addresses) should you not wish to make registration compulsory. Campaign content, flexibility and power... The campaign setup allows the ISV to send a range of user designed, and controlled, personalized emails and adverts to trial users. These could incorporate links to useful information, training and marketing materials, special offers, or highlight a program's advantages and features that will be timed just right to optimize the chances of a sale. For example, in the first few days that a trial starts you could send training material to ensure the trial process starts smoothly; then to follow up with sales messages to motivate along the way and then closing messages at the end of the trial period to encourage a sale via a click or a call. If the trial does not result in a sale (98% of trials) then the messages can continue but perhaps now start to make special offers to try to maximize the close rate before the trial turns “cold”. Also, trials that have started but not resulted in a sale can bereported upon for follow up by your sales people (assuming you have registration switched on) at just the right time i.e. after they have started to look at your product but not bought. This allows sales to focus on the hot leads rather than waste time on the rest and to also know that the user has actually looked at their product! Business intelligence and end user data...
Of course the start date is captured and then any further activity is logged such as a sale (activation) and any movement between systems (de-activation). Also, the deployed PC identity is known and stored so we know what happended on what machine. Once we have all this useful data we can then use this to create useful reports such as a trial conversion metric over time, sales cycles for products, download hot spots, the location of the trial users and much more. All this data can then be viewed in useful reports and charts to enable management to make better decisions based on "real" data. The system even captures piracy rates via the OverdraftTracker.
